The first generation Smart Forfour (body code 454 / W454, platform shared with Mitsubishi Colt, 01.2004–06.2007) uses the classic J-Hook 9x3 mm attachment. The metal arms are fully exposed above the hood line — you can manually lift them to a vertical position at any time, without any interior controls and without the risk of hitting the hood.
