The VW Touran (body codes 1T1 and 1T2) is the compact MPV of the VAG group, built on the PQ35 platform and produced between February 2003 and May 2010. It covers gasoline engines (1.4 TSI, 1.6, 1.6 FSI), EcoFuel/BiFuel and diesel (1.9 TDI, 2.0 TDI 8V/16V).
⚠️ ATTENTION — Check your wiper system before ordering!
This generation of Touran came with two different systems:
- PARALLEL system (classic) — fitted starting November 2005. The blades rest at the bottom, parallel to the bonnet, with the passenger side noticeably shorter. The A979S set (600mm + 475mm) is compatible.
- BUTTERFLY system (contra-directional) — fitted on 2003–2005 models. The blades rest vertically, against the windshield pillars. The A979S set is NOT compatible — you need Bosch A948S (700mm + 700mm).
How to quickly check: With the engine off, look at the resting position of the wiper blades. Low and parallel = parallel system (A979S ✅). At the sides, vertical = butterfly system (A948S, not A979S ❌).
